Phyllostachys Nigra "Black Bamboo"
This is one of the most sought after bamboo because of it feather-like leaf pattern and jet black culms. New culms emerge green every spring and gradually turn black in one to three years. It makes an outstanding specimen, if well cared for.

Tiger Bamboo is a beautiful bamboo. In early spring the culms are green when they first emerge from the ground and within months they acquire the darkish-brown patches where it gets its name from. Tiger bamboo grows taller and thicker than black bamboo. The culms of this bamboo are used extensively in Japanese woodworking.
